What does certified wood management mean?
One of the main challenges today in the forestry market is ensuring that all raw materials that supply an industry or business have the appropriate origin. To this end, there is the chain of custody (CoC), which maps the trajectory of forestry products – from the point of origin to sale. The CoC includes each stage of consumption, processing, sale, and distribution, in which the progress to the next stage of the supply chain involves a change in product ownership.
There are control systems for managing certified wood, and among the main ones mentioned by FSC® are the transfer, percentage, and credit. The credit system allows a proportion of outgoing products, belonging to a product group, to be sold with a credit statement corresponding to the quantity of inputs contributing to the statement and the applicable conversion factors.
To ensure the quality of credit account control, forestry companies look to develop systems on platforms such as the SAP ERP to achieve greater efficiency in certification systems, to integrate the entire production chain up to the product’s flow.
Managing certified wood credits in SAP
In this context, INFLOR created an innovative solution to automate the management of certified wood credits in SAP, focusing on the Chain of Custody process.
